Opened in 2010, the Burj Khalifa rises 828m above Downtown Dubai and has been the tallest building in the world ever since. Its slender, stepped design was inspired partly by the desert flower Hymenocallis. Going up is one of the defining experiences of a trip to Dubai.

What you'll see

Visits start in the Dubai Mall, with an exhibition about the tower's construction, followed by one of the fastest lifts in the world.

  • Levels 124 and 125 (At the Top): indoor and outdoor viewing areas at around 450m, with views across the city, the coast, Palm Jumeirah and the desert on clear days.
  • Level 148 (At the Top, Burj Khalifa SKY): at 555m, a quieter premium lounge with refreshments and a guided experience, combined with levels 124 and 125.
  • Level 152-154 lounge: the highest option, with food and drinks, at a much higher price.

Below the tower, the Dubai Fountain performs on Burj Lake every evening, and the tower itself hosts LED light shows on its façade.

Practical information

  • Tickets: expect from about AED 169 (around £35) for levels 124 and 125 at off-peak times in 2026, more at sunset and much more for level 148 and above. Booking online in advance is cheaper than buying at the counter. Check current prices on the official website.
  • Getting there: Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro station on the red line, then a walkway into the mall; follow signs for "At the Top" on the lower ground floor.
  • Best time to go: an hour before sunset to see the city by day, at dusk and lit up. Early morning slots are often cheaper and clearer, as haze and sand can reduce visibility later in the day.
  • Weather: in summer (June to September) it is very hot outdoors, but the decks are partly air-conditioned. The cooler months from November to March are the most comfortable time to visit Dubai.

Allow time to find the entrance inside the vast Dubai Mall, and arrive about 15 minutes before your slot.
